With some of our own clients active or retired military, we felt it was important to recognize our men and women who are stationed overseas. We understand how difficult it can be being away from your family for extended periods of time, which is why we wanted to send our troops a little piece of home. To achieve that, we partnered with Operation Shoebox, an organization who sends between 350 – 400 care packages to our troops each week!
Their mission is very simple: Operation Shoebox is committed to meeting the needs of every hero with dignity and appreciation.
Donations & Packaging
We started by collecting donations in the form of snacks, personal care items, and entertainment for about a month. These items included wipes, sunscreen, toothpaste, cookies, granola bars, gum, Sudoku books, etc. Our goal was to cover all the basics and to ensure our men and women have everything they need. When the time came for us to box it all up, we gathered 15 volunteers from our team and created an assembly line to sort and package the items. We each sat down, wrote out thank you cards, and made our way to the post office, where we shipped seven big boxes full of donations.
Takeaways
Everyone at SEOM is extremely grateful for the brave men and women who serve and protect our country every day both at home and around the world. We hope these goodies and words of encouragement make their days brighter until they can safely return home to their friends and family!
