SEOM is a place that nurtures curiosity, growth, and excellence. We’re given the freedom to explore our professional development however we choose, from conferences and webinars to courses and events.

This fall, I put that freedom into action through my involvement with the IPG Scholarship from New York Women in Communications (NYWICI)

In September, I volunteered at the 2025 Trailblazer Awards, a powerful event hosted at Forbes on Fifth in Manhattan, NY. This event celebrates the rising stars in communications, marketing, advertising, and public relations, alongside the women who pave the way.

One of the most memorable parts of the evening was serving as the liaison for Talia Bender Small, President of The Female Quotient a company committed to advancing workplace equality. Supporting her throughout the night was an incredible honor, and seeing her speak shortly after at the 2025 Forbes 30 Under 30 Summit in Columbus, Ohio, made the experience even more meaningful.

Speaking of the 2025 Forbes Summit, attending this four-day event was nothing short of surreal. From thought-provoking panels to immersive networking experiences, it pushed me beyond my comfort zone and reminded me why I’m passionate about this industry. I walked away with new connections, valuable insights, and friendships I know will last well beyond this moment.

While in Columbus, I also had the heartwarming opportunity to read to a group of third graders at Highland Elementary.

Alongside two other Forbes 30 Under 30 participants, we introduced ourselves to the class, spoke about college life, our careers, and what we’re doing post-graduation. We asked the students why they think reading is important and got to hear about their favorite books, which led to such genuine and joyful conversations. Together, we read The Hog Mollies and Quincy’s Quest for Quiet, then reflected on the story’s lesson and led the students in reciting a reading pledge from the beginning of the book.

This visit was part of a partnership with The 2nd & 7 Foundation, a nonprofit organization founded by former Ohio State football players that promotes literacy by having student-athletes (both high school and college) read to younger students and provide them with free books. The program emphasizes reading, character development, and serving as positive role models, particularly in underserved communities. Seeing how engaged and excited the students were reminded me of the power of showing up and giving back. We even took a group photo and received hugs from the kids at the end. It was truly a highlight of the entire trip.

None of this would have been possible without the unwavering support of those who’ve guided me along the way. From scholarship committees and board members to colleagues and mentors, they all helped lay the foundation for the work I’m proud to do today.

Opportunities like these are more than milestones; they’re reminders of what’s possible when you’re surrounded by people who believe in your potential. I’m energized by what lies ahead and committed to growing, giving back, and continuing to elevate the voices of others in this ever-evolving field.
